Rooted in the Pacific Northwest

Family Memory Trust was established to bridge generational divides across Washington State. We partner directly with regional public library branches, historical societies, and eldercare communities to bring professional archiving tools into neighborhood spaces.

By treating personal narratives with the same rigorous care usually reserved for civic archives, we ensure that working-class legacies and immigrant histories remain accessible to future generations.

Archival principles

Dignity and narrator ownership in memory care

We adhere strictly to Oral History Association principles. Every narrator retains full copyright and control over their recorded stories, ensuring that personal recollections remain safe, private, and respected within the family.

Our reminiscence sessions for individuals experiencing memory loss are designed around emotional safety and respect. We focus on active listening and compassionate engagement, fostering meaningful connections without medicalising personal history.

Participant reflection

Hearing my mother's childhood memories recorded in her own steady voice changed how our whole family understands where we come from.
